The Dam is home to some of the most well-known and impressive buildings in Amsterdam.

Royal Palace – In the center of the Dam stands the imposing Royal Palace, originally built as a town hall between 1648 and 1665. In 1808, it was offered to King Louis Napoleon as a palace. Today, it is open to visitors, and inside, you can admire the stunning state rooms, which are still used for official events.

It’s a place of reflection and remembrance in the heart of the bustling city.
- Did you know? On May 4th at 8:00 PM, Dutch people observe two minutes of silence to remember war victims. This is also done at the Dam during an official ceremony attended by the King and Queen.
