Tulip Experience Amsterdam
Tulip Experience Amsterdam is a tulip attraction on a working bulb farm in Noordwijkerhout, in the heart of the bulb region. Despite its name it is not in Amsterdam, but about 4 kilometres from Keukenhof. In spring millions of tulips bloom here.
What can you expect at Tulip Experience Amsterdam?
- Show garden: Some 4 million tulips in about 700 varieties bloom in the show garden, all organically grown on the farm itself. Because the varieties flower one after another, there is colour all season.
- Tulip Museum: The museum tells the story of the tulip, from its discovery in Kazakhstan to Dutch icon, with old machines from before 1950. The audio tour comes in 11 languages, and a small cinema shows a film about cultivation in the past.
- History: Wim Pennings started the tulip nursery in 1951. His son Simon launched the Tulip Experience in late 2019, and granddaughter Sylvia now runs it in the third generation. The idea: give tourists a place to enjoy tulips without trampling the bulb fields.
- Highlights: Highlights of Tulip Experience Amsterdam are:
- The show garden with 4 million tulips in 700 varieties.
- The indoor picking garden, where you pick your own bouquet to take home.
- The photo spots among the tulips, with a windmill, a tractor, clogs and a bicycle.
- The tulip museum with audio tour and small cinema.
