Prinsengracht Concert 2027

events

The Prinsengrachtconcert is a free open-air classical concert held every year in August on the Prinsengracht in Amsterdam.

  • Stage on the water: the musicians play on a pontoon in the middle of the canal, in front of Hotel Pulitzer.
  • Audience: thousands of spectators listen from the quays, from the windows of the canal houses and from hundreds of boats on the water.
  • Atmosphere: with a picnic, a glass of wine and the setting sun, it is one of the most romantic evenings of the Amsterdam summer.
  • Children's concert: before the main concert there is a special concert for children, the Kinderprinsengrachtconcert.
  • Finale: traditionally the whole audience sings along at the top of their voices to Aan de Amsterdamse grachten at the end.
  • History: the concert has been held since 1981 and was the idea of entrepreneurs Hans Duijf and Theo Inniger, then director of Hotel Pulitzer.

Tips for visitors

The concert is free, but the best spots fill up quickly.
