Stedelijk Museum - Museum
The Stedelijk Museum is an international institution in Amsterdam dedicated to modern and contemporary art and design. The Museum aims to provide a home for art, artists and a broad range of publics, where artistic production is actively fostered, presented, protected, reconsidered and renewed.
With a notable collection that’s comparable in style to The Museum of Modern Art in New York and Chicago’s Art Institute, the Stedelijk is undoubtedly an ambitious museum. Thanks to its refurbishment, many highlights from Malevich, Edward Kienholz, Willem de Kooning and Andy Warhol once again have fantastic permanent spots on its walls. What’s more, the new building provides more spacious halls, allowing it to showcase larger objects, installations and exhibitions than ever before.
Innovative art space
More than just exhibition spaces, the refurbishment and construction has also changed the public face of the museum – which now looks out onto Museumplein rather than away from it. The impressive new foyer and restaurant are extremely inviting to both locals and travellers alike, and thanks an avid team of art loving volunteers, the Stedelijk’s programming is regularly enriched by special guided tours, lectures and other live performances.
Furthermore Stedelijk Museum is near the following sights: Moco Museum (±80 metre), Van Gogh Museum (±100 metre), House of Bols (±125 metre), Diamant Museum (±150 metre) & Coster Diamonds (±200 metre). For information:
